I guess you’re wondering why I’ve called you all together.
Because I own the domain and want to get some use out of it, project-exclusive home base for the final phase of the DSXP is:
For those of you who don’t know, that’s the name of the newspaper in Collinsport. As always, I eschew the cutes and try to extrapolate what it might really look like today.
There won’t be a lot there. I’m keeping a spreadsheet of vital data about plot arcs, etc, as I compile the Index portion of what’s currently called Why Dark Shadows Matters. It’s important to note that it’s not the Almanac. That exists, and I feel that it deals mostly with production information. I’m looking to chart information about the plot and characters.
It’s one more effort to get a feel for the overall themes of the show. It would be great to somehow visualize it with some kind of literal chart or map, but the design eludes me. The book itself is one I can publish (unlike the Chronicles), and will be made up of several parts. I don’t want to go too public with it, but I would like to privately post it for a temporary time as it’s being written. That’s a good accountability mechanism.
I’m starting another marathon on the Sunday before Christmas. Over ten days, I’ll index the major events of the pre-Barnabas section of the show. Then, I’ll pick up in May with a marathon of both the rest of the series, and the essay sections of the book.
Details of that will eventually be at the project’s website. This will be password protected. I’m trying to get a feel for who’s genuinely interested. I will also be disabling Facebook sharing. The demographic there already knows what I’m doing, so it’s a little redundant.
So, those are the plans. If you want the password, write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
