This will be, however, a new version of the classic comedy, described as 'a mockumentary-style comedy in the manner of The Office and Modern Family,' execs announced at the ABC Upfront on Tuesday. The first trailer was also unveiled revealing love triangles, accusations of stereotypes, confessional interviews, and even an offer to do 'tasteful' nudity from Animal, a sign that this show should appeal more to grown-ups. Look, I get it. Everyone over a certain age loves the Muppets. Gonzo is hilarious, so is that weirdo Swedish Chef. As a parent of two pre-school daughters, I can attest that both shows are wonderful for children and that Miss Piggy despite her obsession with traditional marriage is generally an admirable female depiction in a medium rife with deplorable characters of both sexes.
